"Our ambition was to set up a retreat for those who love to paint."
Peter Davies and Janet Brady
started Brambles Art Retreat 5 years ago.
They found a beautiful cottage deep in the Devonshire countryside, hidden away in the tiny hamlet of Sprytown.
Inspired to paint by the beautiful surroundings and relaxed pace, they opened an Art Retreat. A place to
unwind in an idyllic setting where you can indulge your creativity.
"Would you like to paint with us at a beautiful Chateau in France?"

"The Himalalyan Painting Adventure starting in dramatic Darjeeling at 7500 ft.

Have alook in more detail at india trip.
October 17th - November 2nd 2008.
Janet's first love is teaching Watercolour courses, rich deep colours achieved by using only transparent paints.
Topics she covers are landscapes, seascapes sunsets and flowers. She teaches acrylic, seascapes, sunsets and flowers.
On their Art courses you can also learn to draw anything, from the
fundamentals to Life drawing.
Peter teaches oil and acrylic courses, and particularly enjoys painting still life. He also paints nudes in oil.
He teaches all aspects
of drawing and pen and wash with watersoluable graphite. You can try out more experimental
painting using mixed media on one of his art courses.
This unique retreat offers a broad spectrum of art courses in a range of media, and often two courses run along side
each other so you can try different media during your stay.
With two tutors and small classes there's plenty of 'one to one' tuition and demos.
Guest comment - Sept 2007 "I can honestly say its the best art course I have ever been on."
Brambles Cottage is a wonderful place to come and stay, built in the 1600's its full of character, lots of cosy rooms it has an
unusual layout.
Brambles charm is found in its, crisp country style, full of oak beams and open fires.
The is plenty to see all around the house, paintings, sketchbooks, books and magazines.
Its a very creative environment.
There are three bedrooms, two double bedrooms and one twin bedroom, with two shared bathrooms. Rooms are used as
doubles or singles. When our accommodation is full we spill over to nearby B&B's.
Drinks are served each evening in the cosy lounge by the open fire. Most of the evening is spent in the spacious dining
room, warmed by the Aga. Guests relax each evening enjoying delicious food and fine wine.
We paint at many of the beautiful locations nearby or in our rambling garden. The old stables that has been converted
into a large studio, adjacent to the house, its very spacious and light.
Often painters bring non painting partner of friends with them. There's lots to do and see nearby. If you like easy walking,
there are short walks around nearby villages or trails. If you are more adventurous, only a 15 minute drive,
you can tackle the moors and tors of beautiful Dartmoor. If you prefer the sea, try the rugged north coast of Devon
and Cornwall is just 40 minutes away, Bude, Boscastle and Padstow. Fishing, golf, sailing, country houses and much more.
Relax, draw, paint, curl up with a book, retreat from the hustle and bustle of your busy life. Have a massage, or a long
soak in the bath. Sit quietly, dappled by sunlight under a tree in the garden, enjoy the peace and tranquility.
Take time to smell the roses.
