Brambles Art Retreat – January 2003

We left London in 1999, escaping from the very busy lives we had I was a Fashion Designer
travelling the world as head of Knitwear for Burberry for ten years.
We moved to the sleepy hamlet of Sprytown, on the border of Devon and Cornwall to a beautiful
pink house called Brambles.

Settling into the local community and without any firm plans I began to paint in Watercolour.
Initially I only painted flowers, white lilies to be exact, something of a challenge on white paper.
A fantastic discipline, this taught me how to look, the importance of good drawing skills, delicacy of colour
and eventually set me on the path to mastering the challenging medium of Watercolour.

In 2003 we decided to open Brambles Art Retreat, offering residential painting holidays based in our home.
This brought with it many challenges as all the guests had different needs and skill levels.
" It’s the perfect lifestyle for me at the moment, I love painting, I like people and really enjoy teaching."

With a passion for detail I enjoy painting lush exotic landscapes taking my inspiration form the beautiful Devon
and Cornish countryside. We are so fortunate to also have several beautiful gardens at our fingertips. We often
visit Eden, Heligan and Rosemoor.

Having travelled the word extensively as a designer my passion for travel has not diminished. We now take our guests
to beautiful locations in France and much further afield to India. We have hosted a trip to Darjeeling in the
Himalayas painting at a beautiful hill farm half way up a mountain.
