Watercolour Oil Acrylic Drawing
You don't need a chair, easel or drawing board.
We would like to see a piece of work that you have painted or drawn recently, this will allow us to assess
your skills so that we can pitch your course at the correct level for you.
We recommend for all courses you bring an A5 sketch book, a HB pencil, and an eraser.
Watercolour
Recommended Paint colours:
Transparent colours are most important if you want to keep clarity and sharpness in your work.
Try to get a Windsor and Newton explanatory leaflet on Watercolour,
this is very useful and lists
all the colours and their properties. I prefer to paint from tubes rather than pans, I also recommend a
large palette that has deep wells to enable you to make "puddles" of paint.
Brands of paint I recommend are:
Beginners - Aquafine or Cotman,
Intermediate - Cotman Windsor & Newton
Advanced - Windsor & Newton Artist quality.
No Black White or Paynes Grey
Sap Green
Transparent Yellow**
Phthalo Blue
Alizarin Crimson
Dioxin Violet
Burnt Sienna
Coeruleum*
Ultramarine
Indigo
Scarlet Lake
*Only opaque colour.
** Only available in artist quality.
Masking fluid in a bottle not squeezable tubes and spare brushes

You can pay a fee of £10.00. to use our equipment and paint, for beginners and guests trying several media
this is recommended as some colours of oil paint cost £6.00 - £10.00 each.
